Use and dosage of potassium dicarboxylate as a feed additive
Oct 24,2024
The use and dosage of potassium dicarboxylate as a feed additive may vary depending on the animal species, growth stage and feed composition. Below are some common usage and dosage references:
Pig feed
Suckling piglets: It is usually added to suckling piglet chow or early weaning piglet feed at a level of 0.8% - 1.5%. It helps to regulate the pH value of gastrointestinal tract, promote the growth of beneficial bacteria, improve feed digestibility, reduce the incidence of diarrhea, and improve the growth performance and survival rate of piglets.
Growing and fattening pigs: In the feed for growing and fattening pigs, the amount of potassium dicarboxylate added is generally 0.5% - 1.0%. It can improve the intestinal health of pigs, increase feed remuneration, promote growth and reduce the breeding cost.
How to use: Mix potassium dicarboxylate evenly in the feed. Since suckling piglets and young pigs require higher palatability of feed, potassium dicarboxylate can be premixed with a small amount of feed first, and then gradually expand the mixing range to ensure its uniform distribution in the feed.
Chicken feed
Chick: Potassium dicarboxylate is usually added at a level of 0.6% - 1.0% in chick feed. It can help chicks to establish a good intestinal microbiota, enhance immunity, and improve the survival rate and growth rate of chicks.
Laying hens and broilers: For laying hens and broilers, the dosage is usually 0.4% - 0.8%. It can improve the intestinal health of chickens, improve feed utilization, increase the egg-laying performance of laying hens and the growth performance of broilers, and at the same time, reduce the content of harmful bacteria in eggs and chicken meat, and improve product quality.
Usage: Pre-mix potassium dicarboxylate with a small amount of carrier such as corn meal or soybean meal, and then mix well with other feed ingredients. For caged egg-laying hens, care should be taken to ensure that the feed is evenly distributed in the trough to avoid localized concentration being too high or too low.
Ruminant feed
Calves: Potassium dicarboxylate is generally added at 0.6% - 1.2% in calf starters. It helps the early development of rumen microorganisms in calves and improves their growth performance and digestion of roughage.
Adult ruminants: For adult ruminants, such as dairy cows, beef cattle, etc., it is usually added at 0.3% - 0.6% in concentrate feed. It can regulate the pH value of rumen, optimize the structure of rumen microbial community, improve the digestibility and utilization rate of feed, and then increase the milk production of dairy cows and the growth rate of beef cattle.
How to use: Mix potassium dicarboxylate with concentrate feed and then feed. For grazing ruminants, add according to the corresponding proportion when supplementing the concentrate feed. At the same time, make sure the ruminants have enough water to promote the dissolution and absorption of potassium dicarboxylate in the gastrointestinal tract.
